About Me

My name is Allen Burt and I’m an entrepreneur living in NYC. Currently, I’m building EpicThrills, an adventure travel lifestyle brand and private-sales ecommerce venture.
In a prior life, I ran strategic financial and economic analysis projects for large technology and media clients like the Chicago Tribune, Bayer AG, Pfizer, Sprint, etc. Projects ranged from high-stakes patent litigations to international product launches to business acquisitions and divestitures.
In 2008, I co-founded the non-profit, SocioEconomic Ventures, Inc. (SEV Inc.) and launched the fund raising campaign, LibraryForLaos.org, with my buddy Ryan Graves to strengthen literacy in the country of Laos by funding reading programs and book purchases for 6 rural village schools benefiting between 500-600 impoverished students.
In my spare time, I’m an avid triathlete and traveler. In 2009, I spent 6 months with a backpack traveling around the world. I’ve ridden a motorcycle across Cambodia, illegally snuck behind Chinese blockades into Tibet, served pints in a London pub, and delivered children’s books to rural villages in Laos.
I occasionally write on entreprenuership, social enterprise and adventure travel and have been published in such publications as the Matador Network and the Huffington Post .
